SO KOKO | The Year of the EP | 6 Afrobeats EPs From The UK That Made Us Proud

2016 has been a GREAT year for the UK.

UK Music has definitely made noise and hit global status this year with sold out concerts international collaborations and Chart topping hits all year round.

Below are 6 Afrobeat EP's from the UK that have got SO KOKO's approval. With such great music released this year, we can only imagine what UK artists have in store for us 2017. Take a look below..

Maleek Berry has been behind some of the biggest hits in the Afrobeats Genre. His EP Last Daze of Summer has received some rave reviews, particularly with the Meji Alabi Directed Video, KONTROL accumulating millions of YouTube plays and Spotify streams.

Favourite Song: Eko Miami
Favourite Video: KONTROL

Adejosh bagged our first ever Song of the Week for a reason but that's not all the history we think he's going to make. Correlate is one of many favourites on the Confident EP. Based between London and Lagos, he merges the two cultures perfectly (notice his name), in a way that African Brits will appreciate.

Favourite Song: Tough one...Confam it ft Afro B
Favourite Video: We would love one for Do to You

New Age Muzik made their debut year 2015/2016 one to remember. From their swanky outfits to their daring, out-of-the-box videos, they give us more than music, they gives us personality! And you can find a lot of this in their first body of work, CARTUNES. They've done so much since, and with so much more to come, this EP was the right foundation and they just keep building

Favourite Song: Trending Topic
Favourite Video: Da Beat

Moelogo , for some reason, tends to be the one people love to hate or hate to love, but what can be agreed on by all,  is that he can sing. IRETI is not his first EP , but it's his best so far and its a strong body of work with a beautiful message. We're particularly proud of his modern twist, sampling King Sunny Ade and making it his own with Penkele. He went on to remix the track ft Davido and Sarkodie - That's BIG.

Favourite Song: Ireti
Favourite Video: Penkele

NSG! Okay, we kind of cheated a little bit, because we can't accord the whole EP as Afrobeats per se and it's technically a LP, but that just gives you more to love. NSG are a multi-genre group and we've told you in a previous post how much they make it work. We enjoyed this LP, so much versatility. We look forward to more from them, their music is polished all the way through. Grown Up will fill you with pride.

Favourite Song: Hey Girl/Dreaming
Favourite Video: Referee

Mazi Chukz has often caught flack for his consistency since his 2013/2014 debut year, despite hit tracks such as Hustle and One in a Million, people asked for more and he delivered. From Poetry to Igbo Rap, If Not Now offers a range of sounds. Those familiar with former hits One in a Million and Ifunanya would appreciate Down and Can I in similar ways. With Features including Maleek Berry, L.A.X and Kojo Funds, there's something for everyone,

Favourite Song: Can I
Favourite Video: Down
