SO KOKO | Life Topics | The Great Expectations

Tips to having great expectations without having them weigh you down
We're back down to business this week, with a topic that is often, 'easier said than done'.

This week's Life Topic is about managing our expectations, both of ourselves and others...

We've nodded to the importance of managing expectations in previous posts like Why Are You In Such A Hurry, 3 Reasons Why It Didn't Happen and even Are You M.A.D ? ,so we've kept this post short and sweet.

While some people go by the notion, 'expect nothing to avoid disappointment', sorry to disappoint you, that's an expectation in itself. The reality is, expectations are everywhere and can come from all angles - including within.

Here are 4 quick tips, 'notes to self' to avoid life's pinches feeling like a ton of bricks:

TIP #01 : BE HONEST

Lies, guilt and facades weigh heavier than any truth.

TIP #02 : ACCEPT THE UNEXPECTED

You can't mitigate against everything

TIP #03 : CHECK WHAT PRECEDES BEFORE YOU PROCEED

You can't expect to deliver  'outside the box' without acknowledging how the box got there and why it stays there. Great expectations can be delivered with small sizeable actions

TIP #04 : PUSHING BACK IS OK AND PULLING AWAY IS TOO

Not every projection actualises, it doesn't mean you failed.  - Refer to Tip 02

There's nothing wrong in having expectations. Expectations offer opportunities for growth amongst other things.
