Somebody can't have standards again *eye roll*
Sometimes Critique is Critical. People always want to run from criticism... until THEY can give it.
But before you know it, you're just running round and round in circles - and that circle's your comfort zone. That circle's your circle of yes' men. "No squares in my circle" yada yada yada.. well, sometimes squares, because someone needs to give it you straight.
Be reminded that there is a line. Between good and bad and between good and good enough. But be reminded also that these lines are relative.
Let's look at skill set for instance.
Now, you know, EVERYBODY is just supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. I mean, you even orchestrated your own conception. Real skill. You placed those two together and even delivered yourself (!) Shooot, who needs parents when you're "self made". YOU, nah YOU just popped up.
I mean, HELLO *waves frantically* Even the greats can be not good enough. Why? Out of those 3 words we keep focusing on the first two. But see what the third tells you.
You could be a good writer but not good enough for SO KOKO. Why? Because there's an acceptance criteria to meet. Why? Because we have clearly defined our terms of who want to be and our style so if you're not meeting that, you might be muddling it.
We need to understand that every criticism, industry-wise is not necessarily to harm you but protect their own standards and terms.
Truth is, there is always room for improvement. People don't always want to hear that and that's not good enough
